Life Experience #4

I'd like to tell you about my career as a soccer referee.  I have been refereeing for seven years now and I have had many accomplishments one of my greatest was being selected to officiate at the Region IV tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii.  One year before the selection, I would have never thought that I would be selected for the job.  Only the best of the best youth referees got selected for this highly competitive honor.
My journey began with my local boss asking me if I would be interested in going to the Olympic Development Program summer tournament.  I accepted the offer and spent two weeks refereeing in Idaho during the summer.  Through doing this I made many high level connections and got to learn some great stuff about my job.  I met the man who would be doing the selections for Regionals and I got to show him what I had to offer.
After showing my abilities in Idaho I was asked to participate in the Washington State tournament which is the highest level tournament in the state in which all the best teams in the state compete.  From there they would make the selections for the regional tournament.  After many weekends of staying in hotels and tournament meetings it was all over and I waited to hear back.  After a while I was informed that I would be going to Hawaii to be one of only 35 referees in the state to represent Washington at a tournament where all the best teams from a fourth of the Country would be competing.  It was a great honor to be there and I plan to maybe return to this prestigious tournament.
