My fifth life story also involves my referee career. Shortly after the regional tournament in Hawaii I was nominated as Young Referee of the Year and given the opportunity to be given the title this award holds. I will let you know that I was not selected as the Young Referee of the Year, but through being nominated I learned a lot about myself and how people think about me.
Through being nominated I learned of a lot of people who think very highly of me and wanted to see me succeed. I was put into a spotlight within the referee community and it forced me to become more professional and to grow into a better referee. My mindset changed to become more professional and more aware of who I am and what I am doing.
I became more aware of myself through the nomination and I grew into a better referee and even though I did not win I became better at my job and gained respect from lots of people in the referee community
